Autistic kids learn a lot when they're having fun. I bet Jim Carrey would be an awesome playdate, and would make my kid talk spontaneously more easily than his therapists!
I just hope Jenny and Jim don't end up separated like most Hollywood couples. It would be hard for the little kid if he loves Jim so much.
I wonder if Jenny McCarthy would have written a book and been so willing to go on tour if her son had not "recovered" from autism, as she claims. I somehow doubt it.
To me she comes across as a complete phoney trying to peddle a book to make more money off of other gullible parents.
According to Jenny (on Larry King last night) yeast was the culprit in her son's autism. She got rid of that and he was suddenly ok. Give me a break! Was this kid even on the spectrum to begin with?
The thing that really got me is when she said she cured him and emotionally he changed, all of us on the spectrum know how ever much we change, the emotional part is part of us and its learning to except and understand ourselves.
I'm not saying that diet can not help some children, of course it can on the spectrum or not. Still if it opens discussion and helps raise awareness then I guess it could do some good and maybe the governments will start to fund and help more. But when someone sits there with a big smile saying this is all you need to do, really doesn't help. Would love her to have to look after just one extreme autistic child for a week, I think the smile would fade fast... Sorry but I believe she needs to learn the responsibility of what she is saying and just shut up. Aspergers Parallel Planet www.asplanet.info
The best autism expert I ever knew was a man with a grade two education who could barely read and write. He was my father. My father likely had rapid cycling bipolar, dyslexia and ADHD. He was a wild, funny, surreal man who did constant characterisations, brought objects to life, was great with gesture as communication and reminds me of Gene Wilder and, more recently, Jim Carrey. I don't believe there is any ONE 'autism whisperer' but I believe every personality trait has its key and that is the key to motivation and we each have several. Find a good match and a person with autism can often make amazing progress in this soul magic, this social medicine where personhood is addressed, not just condition. It certainly made essential difference to me as a person with autism.

Excellent!
Cheers
I am presently listening to Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" being read by Tim Curry.
And, yes, I am imagining Jim Carrey as the evil Count Olaf!
